Our Backyard Nature

We were getting ready to have lunch outside (praise God for the beautiful sunshine we have today), and we found this little surprise! Our nature journaling should be easy this week.

Dd's Extra "Work"

Dd decided she didn't get enough work at school today. She drew and colored this picture of a Native American man and woman. She asked me to take a picture of her work and post it, so here it is!

Working on our US Notebooks

Today we read about Jamestown, John Smith, and Pocahontas. Dc are busy working on their Jamestown notebooking pages in these pics. We also started reading Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims today. After we finished the first chapter, dc begged to hear more. Now that's what a homeschooling mama loves to hear!

My dh and me

We had to send a picture as part of our adoption clearance packet, so here we are-still in love. It's been a while since we had a picture taken with just the two of us in it. We will celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary this December. Time flies when you're having fun! He's such an amazing hubby and a wonderful daddy. I'm so blessed. I just had to share that with all of you.

Light school day

We have light school days on Thursdays. One day a week is scheduled as a light day in Adventures. We chose Thursdays because dc and I go to a local senior citizen's home and have a devotional and singing each Thursday. We had to miss today b/c ds has a cold, cough, and fever. We went ahead with school since it was light, and now we're just chilling out on the couch. Well, actually, I'm on the computer at this moment. :P Hopefully ds will be well soon & nobody else will get sick. That's my prayer anyway!

Our best school day so far this year

We started back last Monday (11th.) Today we read a really good book about Christopher Columbus's voyage to the new world. Then we made the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria out of aluminum foil, toothpicks, and white paper. We floated them in the bathtub and used our breath as the wind to carry them from Spain to America (actually from one end of the bathtub to the other.) Dc had a wonderful time! This was especially encouraging because we've had a bit of a difficult start this school year and weren't sure how much we liked Adventures. Suffice it to say we're getting in the groove now. If I knew how to post pics, I'd have taken some pictures of our activity today. I promise I'm going to learn how to do it so you guys can actually "see" what we're up to around here, if you dare! :P

Climbing in windows

Well, today is shaping up to be interesting already! After dh left for work, I went outside to feed our dog...but there was one problem: I locked myself out of the house! My dc were sleeping soundly in their beds, so I had to climb through a bedroom window. It wasn't easy, either, especially for a 5'1" lady with short legs. :P

What in the world does my name mean

Free indeed = John 8:36 "So if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed."
red kitchen = I LOVE my red kitchen. Dh and I remodeled it ourselves. It was pink when we moved into this house, and now it's red! Beautiful!

I'm a new blogger!

Well, here I am. I don't really know what I'm doing, but hopefully I'll learn as I go.

Self-Care That's Not So Fun

As promised in my previous post, I am now going to talk about self-care that's not so much fun. This kind of self-care involves thin...
