Homeschooling and Life: Week of Sept. 1-5, 2014

We had a bit of a hectic and crazy week: a new addition to the family (a puppy), a vet visit for the new little one and our 6-year-old sweetie dog...and we ended up having to ride in hubby's UNairconditioned hunting truck because my van wouldn't crank (had to replace the battery)...so that's one mom, plus kids, plus dogs...FUN...and then we had doctor's appointments out of town yesterday. Whew! In spite of all this, we did manage to get schooling done. Above is a video of our experiment with "dragon scales," which are knows as orange peel to Muggles. We are really having a blast with our Harry Potter unit study. And here are the other highlights of the week:

Bug works on fractions, decimals, and percents.

We found this spider today. The web is beautiful.

We drank chamomile tea as part of our herbology study.

Bug and Doodles sketched chamomile plants and wrote the scientific name.

Doodles' sketching of goblin armor for her report

This is the book we used to make paper airplanes. Since we read about Quidditch, we decided to make things that could fly.

Bug works on his airplane.

Doodles works on her airplane.

This week's Harry Potter vocabulary.

Introducing the newest family member!
